Covering Wisconsin artwork and website
Covering Wisconsin is a health insurance based organization that is dedicated to help people understand and enroll in the current health care system. Through a rigorous process of research, group discussion and consumer testing, we create materials that are meant to be understood at every literacy level. In order to reach a low-literacy audience, we make sure to employ a variety of methods in our work so everything that is made public is accessible to all audiences. These methods of low-literacy graphic design uses larger fonts, more spacing, strategic page placement and many more aspects. The materials below are a few examples of Covering Wisconsin public advertising and how-to sheets. More material can be viewed at www.coveringwi.org

This is the primary work that is done at Covering Wisconsin. We create how-to sheets to help people navigate health insurance. I am provided the text copy and then must create the visuals from that content. CWI has strict graphic guidelines to ensure we reach a low-literacy audience effectively. Some of these methods include strategic use of white space, larger fonts, chunking, and much more.
